Registering
Registering with a multimedia library allows you to borrow documents and access online resources (press and self-training resources). This unique Pass'relle card is valid one year and allows you to borrow from all 33 multimedia libraries in the network (see specific terms & conditions).
You can choose between several types of membership. It can be obtained in any one of the network's multimedia libraries (except in Kehl), wherever you live, and even if you do not live in the Eurométropole of Strasbourg.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION
To register, you must go to one of the multimedia libraries with some form of ID (national ID card, passport, the French Livret de Famille, driving licence, birth certificate, temporary residence permit, etc.).
To register a minor, the child’s legal representative must show proof of identity, an official document stating the date of birth of the minor and provide parental authorisation signed by the legal representative.
Membership must be renewed every year. To do so, show your valid ID and Pass'relle card at the reception desk of the multimedia library of
DIFFERENT TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
Book membership
Full price: €8.40 - Half price: €4.20. With this type of membership you can borrow books, comics, audio books, language learning resources, sheet music, magazines, digital books and consult digital magazines and online training courses.
Multimedia membership
Full price: €26 - Half price: €13. In addition to the list of media mentioned in the book membership section, you can also borrow CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays as well as a work of art from the Art Library (Artothèque).
Who is entitled to pay half price? :
People between the ages of 16 and 25, students, jobseekers, people receiving RSA benefits, holders of a card issued by a Centre Communal d'Action Sociale (CCAS), holders of a Culture, Ircos-Cézam or a Collectivité européenne d'Alsace (CAE) card, staff employed by the Eurométropole of Strasbourg and its member municipalities and their spouses. You will need to show valid proof of entitlement.
Who is entitled to free access? :
Holders of the Saphir/Evasion card, couples married in the city of Strasbourg, as part of the cultural bouquet (bouquet culturel) offered as a wedding gift. You will need to show valid proof of entitlement
Membership for young people
This membership is free of charge and identical to the multimedia membership but restricted to under 16s. However, some documents are not available to under-12s or under-16s (details on the document).
Institutional Membership
Free membership for professional use. For those of you who work in a school, a leisure centre, an early childhood centre, or if you are a childminder or part of an association (cultural, social, etc.). Please refer to our section for professionals for further information
In case of loss
Lost or stolen membership cards must be reported as soon as possible to one of the network's multimedia libraries so that it can be blocked. A new card will be issued by showing your ID and you will be charged €2.
OTHER TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
Internet card
If you only intend to use the computer stations or play video games, you can get an internet card free of charge by showing your ID.
The Heritage card (Carte Patrimoine)
If you wish to consult only the documents that are part of the precious and historical collections in the Heritage Room (Salle du Patrimoine), you can get a free Heritage Card (Carte Patrimoine) by showing your ID.
MEMBERSHIP GIFTS
You can offer a one-year membership gift to a person of your choice at the André Malraux multimedia library. You will be given a blocked Pass'relle card.
On his or her first visit, the lucky recipient must go the registration desk, and ask for the card to be unblocked by showing their ID in the case of an adult, or parental ID and authorisation in the case of a minor.
